Cause-and-effect toys like this one are some of the very first tools I reach for with younger children, and this slider is a lovely example of the type. A child pushes a car, watches it slide and drop down the ramp, and immediately sees the result of their own action. That direct, predictable feedback loop is exactly what helps very young children begin to understand cause and effect, one of the earliest cognitive milestones in play.
Picking up the small wooden cars and positioning them at the top of the ramp calls on a developing pincer grip and hand-eye coordination, a child has to judge where to place the car and use a controlled release to send it on its way. Because there are three ramps at different heights, older toddlers also start to notice and compare, which ramp is higher, which car went further, building some of the very earliest spatial reasoning and comparison skills.

I absolutely love this puzzle, and have purched multiple ones as gifts. It is well crafted, and the wood is neatly rounded off. I'll be honest I've never played the game guidlines included, and rather use it as a catalyst in my creative processes. I love the fact that there are no rules to this, and the opportunity to use it as an expressive tool. My tiny human loves it too, and can play endlessly with captivated imagination.
