DESIGN

Our Tray Play is a beautifully made 2-in-1 sensory tray, ready to be filled with anything, everything, and taken anywhere. It combines a sturdy bamboo fibre and melamine base with a textured silicone lid, illustrated with gentle nature, space and garden-creature designs, so it doubles as its own imaginative play surface. Perfect for messy play, sensory exploration, small-world play or quiet creative storytelling, it invites children to build their own mini worlds again and again. Available in Sage or Soft Blue, choose your favourite.

When playtime is done, simply pop the silicone lid back on to pack everything away, or clean up in the dishwasher or with warm soapy water.

What the OT Says:

I love open-ended trays like this because they put the child in charge of the play, there's no single "right" way to use it. Whether it's filled with sand, rice, water beads or small figurines for a pretend garden, a child is constantly making decisions: how to sort, arrange, pour and build, which naturally supports problem-solving, planning and fine motor control.

The tray format itself is genuinely useful from a sensory-regulation perspective too. Containing the play within a defined space can help a child stay focused and organised, particularly for children who find open-ended messy play a bit overwhelming without boundaries. The textured illustrations on the lid add another layer of tactile and visual exploration, and lend themselves naturally to storytelling and language development as a child narrates their mini world.

Because it's compact and packs away easily, it's also a lovely one to bring out for focused, calm play at the table, in the car, or wherever a bit of contained sensory time is needed.

I recommend this as a versatile, open-ended tool for sensory and small-world play, one that can be filled and refilled endlessly as your child's interests grow and change.
