Melissa and Doug have done it again. This is one of my favourite “toys'' for toddlers. These brightly coloured, cardboard books have a dot on every page you poke. When you poke them, they make a satisfying popping sound- like you’re popping bubble wrap. But these beautiful books last a lot longer than bubble wrap and it’s very easy to pop.
There are a number of other books in the series which cater to the usual obsessions of toddlers.
Why we love these for traveling:
- It is an easy and entertaining book that your toddler can read through by him/herself.
- Finding and poking the dots as they page through the book also encourage individual finger use and pointing.
- Giving sensory feedback by making the popping sound is also somewhat satisfying, and a great cause-effect toy that keeps them engaged in the activity.
- These books are 15 x 15 cm and are small and compact to pack for road trips or flights.

I was pleasantly surprised by how engaged my 1year old son was with this toy. He spent so much time taking the veggies out and trying to fit them back into the holes, even testing out different ones. It kept him busy as he packed the veggies in and out repeatedly. It's a simple yet clever toy that holds his attention for longer than I expected. Highly recommend it!
