What our OT says:
The Wooden Tool Bench is an absolute winner. For children from age 2, this kind of open-ended, tool-based play is incredibly rich in developmental benefits.
Fastening nuts and bolts, gripping and turning a screwdriver, and manipulating the saw and wrench all require and develop fine motor strength, pincer grip, and hand-eye coordination, the very foundations children need for writing, drawing, and self-care skills later on.
The bilateral coordination involved in holding a block steady while tightening a bolt is particularly valuable. Beyond the physical benefits, this bench supports cognitive development through problem-solving, sequencing, and cause-and-effect thinking. It also encourages independence and confidence, there is something deeply satisfying for a young child about completing a task with their own hands. I'd recommend this for any toddler who loves to explore how things work.
