Because the pieces have no fixed use, a child has to decide for themselves how to arrange them, into a forest, a pattern, a stacked tower, and that decision-making process builds problem-solving and creative thinking in a way that a more prescriptive toy simply can't.
Handling the varied sizes and weights of each tree and shrub piece, picking them up, standing them upright, grouping them by height or shape, supports fine motor control and hand-eye coordination. With trees ranging from a compact 6cm up to a substantial 15cm, the differences in scale also introduce early size comparison and spatial reasoning, particularly when a child starts arranging them from smallest to largest or building a balanced little scene with taller trees at the back and smaller ones in front.

I absolutely love this puzzle, and have purched multiple ones as gifts. It is well crafted, and the wood is neatly rounded off. I'll be honest I've never played the game guidlines included, and rather use it as a catalyst in my creative processes. I love the fact that there are no rules to this, and the opportunity to use it as an expressive tool. My tiny human loves it too, and can play endlessly with captivated imagination.
