Column Geoboard
Description
The Column Geoboard encourages problem-solving skills as little ones work to complete 10 unique shaped patterns.
To play, simply place a pattern piece over the peg board and use the coloured wooden pieces to recreate the design. For added guidance, the pattern pages feature coloured outlines to help children identify the necessary shapes. Once a design is completed, the wooden pieces can be removed, and the pattern card flipped for a new challenge.
Features:
- 1 x Baseboard with 3 x 3 peg grid (measures 20 x 20 cm)
- 5 Double sided pattern cards
- 17 wooden shapes for threading and building
- Crafted from high-quality timber and thick cardstock, each piece is finished with child-safe, non-toxic paint, ensuring a safe and durable play experience.
What our OT says:
Absolutely love this game for my younger clients. It only has a few pieces and therefore make sit easy to find the correct piece to complete the puzzle. This is an easier version of the geoboard and a great beginner. Let's look at some other benefits.
Problem-Solving: Creating symmetrical patterns requires planning and problem-solving, fostering critical thinking skills.
Spatial Awareness: Understanding symmetry involves recognising spatial relationships, which helps in developing spatial reasoning.
Visual Discrimination: Differentiating between symmetrical and asymmetrical patterns improves the ability to discern shapes and forms.
Pattern Recognition: Identifying and creating symmetrical patterns enhances pattern recognition abilities, which are fundamental in mathematics.
Self-Correction: Children can instantly see if their design is symmetrical and make adjustments, which encourages self-correction and independent learning.
Reinforcement: Immediate visual feedback reinforces learning and helps solidify understanding.
Playful Learning: The tactile and visual nature of the geoboard makes learning about symmetry fun and engaging for young children.
Creativity: Children can experiment with different shapes and patterns, fostering creativity while learning mathematical concepts.
