Animal Geo Blocks
Description
Our Animal Geo blocks have large chunky wooden pieces in beautiful colours, the challenge here is to copy the picture cards and recreate the friendly animals.
There are 60 different cards to work through, and they get more difficult as you move through, with layers being used and pieces laying in different directions. Or you can just create your own animals – there is no right or wrong way to do it.
We find that this is also a great language game – try describing the card to the child without showing it to them.
Features:
- Includes: 60 graded copy cards
- wooden shapes
What our OT says?
Visuo-motor integration, a fundamental skill, allows us to seamlessly connect visual information with purposeful motor actions. From early childhood, we learn to copy shapes, recognise patterns, and create designs. This ability becomes crucial when writing and copying from the board in class.
The Animal Geo Blocks set exemplifies effective visuo-motor integration practice. Here’s why this game is part of my Ot toolbox.
- Graded Difficulty:
- The set’s activity cards are thoughtfully graded. As children progress, they encounter more complex designs.
- Gradual challenges enhance their visual perception and motor coordination.
-
Minimal Blocks, Maximum Exploration:
-
Animal Geo Blocks provide just enough pieces for creativity without overwhelming young learners.
-
-
- Fewer blocks simplify navigation, making it easier for children to select the right shape for their designs.
-
Versatility Across Developmental Stages:
- As part of my Occupational Therapy toolbox, Animal Geo Blocks serve multiple purposes.
- I use them in more than one developmental stage (different age groups) and is therefore a game that is perfect to use in te classroom, therapy practice and at home.
