Nesting Dolls
R 400.00 ZAR
Description
These beautiful sets of wooden nesting dolls are a fun activity to use when comparing sizes using two hands. The five dolls in each set are wooden, hollow and all but the smallest one are split across the middle so that they can be opened and closed.
Some more ways to play:
- Complete each doll without nesting them, ending up with five different dolls. Then line them up in order by height.
- Use the non-dominant hand as a stabilizing hand to hold the bottom of each doll as you add the others and the top with the dominant hand.
- Line the dolls up from smallest to largest. Ask the child to pick up the smallest and put it into the next doll in line. Then take that doll and put it into the next doll in line, etc. Now start nesting them.
- Start by nesting only two dolls. Play with them until the child can do it independently before introducing the third doll. Proceed by adding only one doll at a time after the child is able to nest the previous dolls independently.
- Hide smaller objects (like beads or puzzle pieces) in each doll and let the child open them up and take out all the pieces. This is a lovely added fine motor activity.
- Open all the dolls and mix the pieces on the table top. Give the child the smallest doll and let them find the matching pieces as they assess the different sizes and nests the dolls accordingly.
