Balance Board
Introducing the perfect companion for balance exercises, dynamic sitting and quiet lounging. This balance board rocks gently under a child’s feet or body, so they are always making small adjustments to stay steady. Children stand on it, sit on it, rock on it, lie across it, or use it as part of a stepping stone obstacle course.
It is just as useful on a calm afternoon as on an active one. A child who needs to move while they listen to a story or watch a sibling play can sit and rock, rather than being asked to sit perfectly still.

What the OT Says
A balance board gives a child a surface that moves with them. Every shift of weight tips the board, and the body has to respond. That constant feedback works the core muscles and the small postural muscles that keep us upright. It also gives rich vestibular input, so it supports both balance and postural control in a way a flat floor simply can’t.
I particularly value it for dynamic sitting. Many children find it hard to sit still, and often they are not being difficult. Their bodies need movement to stay alert and regulated. Gentle rocking on a balance board can give that input while the child stays in one place, which can help with attention during quieter activities like listening to a story.
For more active children, the board becomes part of the challenge: balancing while standing, rocking side to side, or adding it to a stepping stone course as the “wobbly” step. These activities support coordination, body awareness and motor planning, and children love them because they feel like play.
I recommend this for home play spaces, classrooms and therapy rooms, especially for children who learn and regulate best when they are moving.
