Cylinder Blocks
Cylinder Blocks are a classic Montessori material designed to build the foundations of thinking through the hands. Each smooth wooden block holds cylinders that vary subtly in height and diameter, inviting children to observe, compare, problem-solve, and refine their movements as they work.
This is quiet, focused play at its best. Children learn through trial and error, developing visual discrimination, spatial awareness, and fine motor control as they remove and replace each cylinder. There’s no right or wrong way to begin, just curiosity, concentration, and repetition.

The Humpty Dumpty wall game is a firm favourite with our toddlers. It’s a simple cause-and-effect activity that immediately grabs attention and keeps little ones engaged. While it’s a plastic game and not the most durable piece in the room, the value for money is excellent. The amount of fun, repetition, and learning we’ve had from it makes it well worth it for early play and therapy sessions.
The rope ladder brings instant adventure into the OT space. It invites pretend play while quietly working on grip strength, shoulder stability, core control, and bilateral coordination. Climbing rung by rung challenges motor planning and body awareness, while the imaginative element keeps children motivated and engaged. It’s a brilliant way to blend functional movement, confidence-building, and play in a way that feels exciting rather than therapeutic.
The trapeze swing is always a hit in the OT room. It builds strong arms, shoulders, and core while giving the kind of movement input kids love. I was so excited to see something new in educational games. This can be used in many different ways. Perhaps it would be useful to list the different ways it can be used from simple to complex.
We are using this in therapy and I think the size and challenge is perfect for many of the kids we work with. One suggestion would be to add an extra one of each colour to make it more challenging - so if they get to the last one, it’s a bigger challenge to choose the correct colour when copying a pattern. Also in case any get lost. But overall, good quality and a lovely game

These stick-on toys are so versatile and easy to carry with you. I was surprised and delighted to find so many uses for them. Started using them at 6 month and they are still in play a year later.

I’ve found it to be quite a challenge for many children, which makes it a great tool for developing spatial awareness and understanding positional concepts. With toddlers, I start by giving simple instructions, like “put the farmer in front of the barn” or “place the chicken behind the farmer.” With older children, the graded copy cards add an extra layer of difficulty as they copy the scenes independently.
It’s a versatile game that targets language, comprehension, visual-spatial skills, and fine motor control all at once. Plus, the durability of the wooden pieces means it will last through many therapy sessions. A definite favourite in my practice!
We love using the wooden threading board in therapy! For little ones, it’s great for building fine motor strength as they push the pegs into the board. For older kids, the copy cards turn it into a fun challenge for concentration, planning, and visual skills.
It’s also fantastic for colour sorting, making patterns, and threading, each peg has a tiny hole at the top, so children need to hold it steady while threading, which builds both hand strength and coordination.
